8 Week Old Baby Rats

QR Code Link to This Post Because I know someone will be dying to flag this ad -- we didn't breed these rats. We are a small animal rescue rehoming these rats. They were dropped off to us when one of our previous rat adopters saved some rats from a bad situation, and it turned out one of her saved rats was pregnant. Her rat had the babies, they grew up there, and then she brought them over to us, for us to find them homes.

Now, to relevant rat info --

We have several baby rats that are looking for their forever homes. We got in a litter of 11 rats that were born on 10/12/17, which currently makes them 8 weeks old (as of 12/12).

We have both males and females still available. Two of the males have found their homes, but there's still 9 to go! They are all black hooded and pink eyed whites. They all have normal ears (NO dumbo rats, sorry).

They are all super sweet - you open the cage and they crawl right into your hands. Very sweet and curious. As they are still young, they can be a bit shy at times. They are very sweet and playful. Once you have them out of their cage, they do well with being handled and petted. They have been handled often since birth. They do not bite. They all get along well with other rats - all the males are together and all the females are caged together.

As with all our rescues, these rats will come with some food to start you out (lab blocks) and a printed out version of our rat care packet. We also have additional supplies for sale -- many of the things we sell for chinchillas work great with rats as well (they like the hidey houses, the hammocks, and so on), and we also sell lab blocks at $1/pound.

Regardless of past rat experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our rat care packet and fill out our adoption application/rat questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No rat will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

These rats are located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324).

We would prefer these rats go in pairs or groups, though if you have a lot of time to spend with one, you can adopt one by itself. The adoption fee for these rats is $15 for a single rat or $20 for a same-sex pair.

If you are interested in these rats, or have any questions, please let us know. We also do have other rescue critters up for adoption as well. You can email us or text/call for more information or if you have any questions. If you call and there is no answer, please leave a message and we will get back to.
