Actively teaching in local schools and a home studio in West Philadelphia
Many years experience teaching group and private lessons to all ages.
Whether your goal is to learn to play your instrument, compose your own music, get into a university music program, or simply become a better all around musician I can demystify and give clarity to what has kept you from unlocking your potential on the instrument.
I can teach you to play your chosen instrument with high technical proficiency utilizing natural body mechanics. You will also be able to learn the construction and analysis of music, allowing you to be able to understand and play pop, jazz, classical, blues, rock, and other styles of music and integrate these ideas into your own playing.
In addition I can teach you practical techniques and methods that will enable you to compose and improvise your own music, which is of great importance to the development of any musician. Through this training you will begin to develop the techniques and knowledge to becoming a highly skilled player, giving you the confidence and skills to succeed in whatever musical endeavor you choose to pursue.
Piano If you are just beginning, have hand pain/fatigue, or want a change from the old school piano methods, I offer a natural, easy, and pain free way to play the piano. Using your body's natural relaxed motions at the piano unlocks your artistic potential and frees your hands from technical limitations at the keyboard, without the use of tortuous finger drills and tedious beginner pieces. Lessons are tailored to your unique individual goals, not a method book.
Formerly an injured pianist, my Taubman piano training has helped to overcome my technical and artistic limitations at the keyboard. I teach simple techniques to help eliminate fatigue, pain, and technical limitations in piano playing, resulting in an easy and brilliant technique.
Guitar At the Westminster Conservatory in Princeton, NJ I studied classical and jazz guitar. Currently I perform with various ensembles in the Philadelphia area in a wide variety of genres such as classical, jazz, tango, and classical Indian music. I have an extensive knowledge of classical guitar playing technique and repertoire and also teach electric/acoustic guitar and its proper playing techniques in all styles, such as jazz, rock, metal, blues, and pop.
I am easy going and understanding and always have my student's best interest at heart. In addition to my instruments I also teach beginner to advanced music theory and ear training. I can teach you to learn to read music, analyze it, or compose and improvise. Whether you would like to learn chord construction, counterpoint, song writing, improvisation and soloing techniques, or simply music fundamentals I can help.
