Adopt Pepper and help him overcome the curse of the brown tabby (South Baltimore)

(Warning: the last two photos in the montage above are slightly gruesome. Don't view if you're squeamish!)

When I found Pepper on the street, his entire face was covered with blood and pus. He had unfortunately been in a fight with another cat, and had been bitten on his forehead and his hind paw. Both wounds got infected and abscessed. The one on his head was draining out through his eye sockets. Thankfully, even though the photos are gruesome, his eyes are just fine. The injury did split his third eyelid on his right eye (the third eyelid is that pink inner eyelid you can see occasionally when a cat has its eyes half-closed), so a little portion of it protrudes in the corner of that eye (you can see it in the photos), but it doesn't bother him and is basically cosmetic.

It took four rounds of antibiotics to get Pepper's infection cleared up -- my vet's office got to know him quite well, and loved him! (To quote my favorite vet tech, "whoever gets this cat is going to be very lucky!") He's a big boy who likes to snuggle on the couch, has a great purr motor, and loves a nice soft kitty bed to snooze in. He's very laid back -- he gets along with other cats, but would also be fine as an only cat. He is currently living with a large dog, who he doesn't much care for, but does tolerate. His preference would probably be a dog-free home, but if you've already got a cat-friendly pooch who will just steer clear of him, he'd be fine with that.

(He also has a kitty "girlfriend" -- another foster cat of mine who is a TINY little brown tabby and loves to snuggle with him... just in case anyone is interested in adopting a pair!)

Even though he's a great cat, he's been for adoption for MONTHS with little interest... since he's "just" a plain brown tabby, people pass him over for the flashy tuxedos and calicos, even though he has a great personality and just wants to be loved! Could you be the one to look past his plain brown wrapper and give this awesome boy a home for the new year?

Pepper is about 2 years old, neutered, tested negative for FIV/FELV, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, and microchipped. Everyone who has met him loves him, and he's ready for a great forever home!
