In December we purchased a baby box turtle and absolutley love him. I have experience with adult Russian Tortoises' and assummed that they were the same; however I was very wrong. He is a baby about 4 or 5 months old. I need Rocket to go into an experienced home that has the time to handle him everyday. We both work so he only is handled about every other day. He is currently hibernating and sleeps a lot. He wakes up to soak in his "tub" and to eat then he goes back to sleep. He eats mealworms, waxworms and dubais. He did not seem interested in crickets but I think it is because he is so small still. We are looking for Rocket to go into a home that has box turtle experience! We are not in a rush for him to go into a home any time soon so I will be very picky who he goes with.
