IMPORTANT: If you are interested in adopting Bella you can call or text to schedule a meet and greet with her. Also we require the adopter to allow us to check up on her for a month or two after she is adopted to make sure she is happy and safe in her new home.

-We adopted Bella this February as her family of 7 years was unable to care for her anymore. She has attacked a few of our dogs over food and when play excitement levels get too high- we own 3 other dogs and foster dogs. She is a good dog just not right for being in a home that has so many dogs coming and going. She hasn't really hurt any other dogs since she has such a small mouth and has only accidentally punctured my hand once when I was breaking her up from her attacking one of our other dogs over a piece of food. We just don't want our toddler accidentally being the one in between her and another dog when she decides to attack over a piece of food on the ground. She only is food aggressive when with other dogs. By herself she lets my daughter take her bones away with ease and lets my daughter feed her and take food away. She would be happy to be an only dog again. She was an only dog for 7 years so she seems to want that life back.

**Bella would be a great dog for a teenager since she will be around for about 4 more years it allows a teen the experience of having a dog but when the teen goes off to collage the parents are not stuck having to take care of a dog.

***Bella would also make a great companion to older couples who want a couch cuddle buddy and someone to go on walks with.

-*-Because she likes to steal food we are not recommending her to young families with toddlers as we don't want her to become over weight as that can cause arthritis.

---We will not adopt her out to families with other small animals such as caged animals, cats, small or even medium dogs. We suggest that she be an only dog but if you have a larger dog that gets along well with her than that would be fine.

Pros about Bella:
*Loves to cuddle on the couch
*Is well behaved when left alone
*Adventurous; likes to explore
*Likes to play in shallow water
*Brave; nothing seems to scare her
*Walks well on leash; sometimes tugs but usually doesn't
*Loves walks and jogs
*Does well with baths
*Stays still for nail trimming
*Lets you clean her ears, which need to be cleaned regularly to keep from getting ear infections
*Lets you clean her teeth
*Medium shed; not heavy
*Great sense of smell
*Loves food; not a picky eater
*No allergies
*In good health
*UTD on shots
*Does Excellent at the dog park in the big dog area (has never gotten in a fight at the park, plays well with other dogs for a few hours- she just doesn't like to live with other dogs)
*Patient with children- lets kids/toddlers lay on her, tug on her, take her bones and feed her
*Barks very little in the home
*Potty trained- doggy door trained (not crate trained)
*Knows basic commands- sit, lay, stay, come, out of the room, leave it, bedroom, off, no bark, and walk

Cons about Bella:
*Has some aggression towards dogs when food is present
- She would do best in a home without any other animals
*Does not like cats or most small critters- she is part beagle so she has hunting instinct
*She can become excited in a bad way, mainly only when around other dogs, when raw meat is present or if she tastes/smells blood
*Not good off leash as she follows her nose- please when outdoors keep her on a leash
*Likes to dig little holes occasionally to eat clay
*Noisy in cars- high pitched winning and barking, although she is not as bad as she used to be
*If she gets the chance to find cat poop she will eat it- this is bad because cat feces usually carries worms so shortly after eating it you would have to de-worm her (it is a pill)
*Loves food to a fault- will steal food out of hands, plates, counters, table; if she can reach it she tries to get it
*Will steal food from toddlers forcefully but without causing damage to the child
