BEWARE of the person selling the parrotlet. OF COURSE THE OWNER OF THE BIRD FLAGGED MY POST BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW THE TRUTH! AS LONG AS YOU ARE POSTING THAT BIRD FOR SALE I WILL REPOST MY WARNING!!
If the picture is of the actual bird ask what is wrong with that beak!!! It is not supposed to look like that! It should be clean and clear at the ceres (nostrils) and smooth and properly shaped. Also, if they say this bird is only 2 years old??? I would highly question that for 2 reasons, first the condition of the beak is more so of an older bird, second if you look at the band on the bird it either reads 08 or 06, which in either case the bird is at least (if you go by the 08 year on the band) at least 7 years old!!!!~
Please just be cautious when purchasing any animal - especially birds because unless they are closed banded there really is no way to know age for sure. Also, always check the condition of the bird! Poop should look normal and not runny or stuck to their underside, cere (nostrils) should be clear and dry, condition of beak and feet should be good, weight should be good. Plucking in itself is often behavioral so should not alone be an indication of an ill bird. Plucking is usually diet or behavior related, and if the feather follicles have not been damaged can often grow back. I can't tell you how many times people lie about a bird's age, especially since you can't usually tell just by looking at them. They are also often not completely truthful in their reasoning for rehoming. I do rescue work with parrots so I see things like this all the time - I'm just saying be careful!!! Don't bring a sick bird into your home. Ask for vet records and proof that the bird you are inquiring about is the same bird in the vet records!
PS the picture above is what a good healthy female blue parrotlet should look!
