Border Collie Mix Seeks a Loving Home

We regrettably need to put our wonderful, first pet, a dog named Felix, up for adoption. He's a nine-year-old border collie--flat-coated retriever mix, a rare, beautiful breed. We are having our first child and live in a small, one-bedroom apartment in New York City.
Felix recently got all of his vaccinations. He is neutered, and has an ID number tattooed inside his right ear. Felix weighs 58 pounds, and has long black hair. He's very loving and affectionate. He's in great health, and has never had a serious health issue. He does get an upset stomach every once in a while, but it's infrequent and not serious. He loves to be outdoors, and especially loves to go on long hikes. He's originally from Albi, a city in southern France. We adopted him while living in Paris, and then moved to New York in 2007. Consequently, he's lived in a small apartment most of his life. Felix, and border collies in general, need to live in a more spacious environment, suburban if not rural. He loves to be outdoors even in very cold or rainy weather; it's extreme heat that slows him down- not extreme cold. Even at nine, Felix can run for hours over long distances daily. I've never seen him around farm animals, but he does nip people occasionally (normal behavior for this breed). I can't say how Felix is around children since he's never been around them inside our apartment. Outside, in a city park, he ignores most other people we meet, children and adults, and focuses his attention on me and a toy. He's fully house-trained and can even go a long while at home, alone, if need be. He loves car rides.
Felix comes with all of our dog gear (if you'd like it): bed, toys, health products, electric clippers, etc. . . as well as his papers.
If interested, please contact me and we can arrange to meet for you to meet Felix.
Thank you for your interest.
