THE GOOD DO-BEE
a short film by Josh McDonald
A raging blizzard. A secluded hotel in the middle of nowhere. A man and a woman, strangers who will probably never cross paths again, thrown in together with nowhere else to go and nothing to do. What happens next may seem predictable enough, but in this drama-comedy, things don't always go as expected.
CHARACTERS:
DAN
A blandly appealing sort, probably white-collar middle-management; mid-forties and in denial about just how heavily those years sit upon his shoulders. He can be trusted to always do the right thing, and he always looks to the bright side of life, while secretly resenting a world that seems to take him for granted.
BRIDGET
Neither as old as she feels nor quite as young as she looks, she is a little too aware of approaching the old age of her youth. She holds to the determination to flaunt it as long as she still has it. The ideal actress would be comfortable with a tastefully executed topless scene.
ALICE
Dan's wife, early forties; a woman who never expected much out of life and thus has never been too disappointed. After a couple decades of always playing the good wife, she has mostly resigned herself to the idea that she has somehow missed out on the best years of her life.
BARTENDER
Man or woman. This non-speaking character knows his job, and knows when to butt out and mind his own business.
