The intention of this posting is to share with you our experience with using John Burke, the owner of JRB Tile & Stone, .

This company did a poor job installing the flooring in our 2-bedroom condo, and took 8 days to complete the job, instead of the promised 2-3 days. After JOHN was paid in full, we discovered:
--- The edge of some planks were not installed properly,
--- The TV cable had been cut and hidden by baseboards,
--- A wrong door threshold had been installed,
--- The hardware of the bi-fold doors was left off.
When we brought these problems to John's attention, he first agreed to come over and use a heavy roller on the floor and take care of the other issues. He made TWO separate appointments. Not only did he not show up to do the repairs, he did not even have enough COURTESY to call and cancel - he just simply blew us off. He also ignored our many calls, texts and emails. We lost two full days waiting for him!
He finally called us only after seeing this posting. Instead of an apology, or giving us any valid explanation for not showing up (twice), he used a lot of profanity and 4-letter words, and told us that he would not stand behind his workmanship because his proposal did not say anything about "warranty"! He also texted us that he would send us an additional bill for $550.00, and if not paid, he would put a lien on our property! He then threatened us with a lawsuit and hung up on us!
By the way, his contract included installing underlayment at the labor cost of $300.00. No underlayment was installed, but no credit was given to us either. So, we were overcharged $300.00 to begin with. JOHN LATER CALLED AND LEFT A NASTY VOICEMAIL FULL OF PROFANITIES.
John's latest text to us states that he would pay up to $300.00 for damages if we remove this posting, but that he would not do anything to the floor because he does not warranty Home Depot products. He fails to realize that the problem is not with the product, but with his workmanship. Besides, all his ads state: "ALL WORK UNDER WARRANTY..."!
A few other observations:
--- The ads claim that he is a member of BBB, but we could not find any records for him or JRB Tile & Stone in BBB.
--- He takes only checks or cash.
--- We caught his employees smoking POT in our building. He claims that they were using medicinal POT. Apparently he does not know that smoking POT outside of one's residence is illegal.
We are a retired senior citizen couple, treat people fairly and expect to be treated the same. It hurts when we are insulted, mistreated, and taken advantage of.
