Children in play

Our mission is to provide the highest quality childcare and pre-school education in a secure, nurturing and stimulating environment."
Our classrooms are safe and nurturing learning environments for children six weeks to six years, offering age-appropriate opportunities to discover, explore and learn. Our approach is based on widely accepted childhood development and brain-based learning research that clearly indicates the deepest, most genuine learning occurs for children through play-based activities. We foster the cognitive and social development of each child with fun lessons lovingly guided by highly trained teachers, preparing children for social and academic success.

In our classrooms, each child follows a natural progression through various categories of learning.

Practical Life

This area is designed to teach children to take care of themselves and their environment. Practical Life materials allow children to develop fine motor skills, develop control over their small and large muscles, improve hand-eye coordination and teach left-to-right progression which further help them in their reading and writing skills. Children will have opportunities to expand their life skills through activities involving spoon feeding, grasping, threading, dressing, washing, sweeping, folding, table setting, cooking, flower arranging and many other day to day life experiences.

Sensorial

Children learn to understand the world around them through the constant use of their senses. Activities in the sensorial area provide an opportunity for children to observe the differences and similarities in what they see, hear, feel, taste and smell. Sensorial materials in the classroom help children distinguish, categorize and relate new information to what they already know. Sensorial materials contain experiences with textures, colors, sizes and shapes. Children can play with blocks that teach biggest to smallest or longest to shortest. They can sort sound cylinders or make geometrical shapes with the triangle boxes.

Language

The development of language begins with speech and progresses into reading and writing experiences. Our classroom includes many sensory materials that allow young children to learn their letters by sight, feel, and texture. For example the sandpaper letters help children link sound and symbol effortlessly, encouraging the development of writing and reading skills. In the classroom a child might use the "Moveable Alphabet" to begin sounding out and spelling simple words. Here lessons are taught, stories are read, and handwriting is practiced. To further reading development, children are exposed to the study of grammar. Our goal for our students is to begin reading simple words before they enter Kindergarten.

Math

Math activities help children learn and understand the concepts of math by manipulating concrete materials giving the child a hands- on approach in developing basic numerical concepts. The materials are presented sequentially, when the child is ready to understand the concepts, and allow each child to move through the curriculum at his or her own pace. This work gives children a solid understanding of basic mathematical principles, develop problem-solving capabilities and prepare them for Addition, Subtraction, Division and Multiplication.

History and Geography

Children gain awareness of the world around them by exploring geography, history, other countries and their customs. In the preschool years the children work with small globes and then puzzle maps to become familiar with the names and locations of the world's continents, oceans, and countries. In this area, children learn to appreciate and recognize the importance of people and places around the world and in our own community. Songs from around the world are sung. Stories from other lands are read. Kids are introduced to Major holidays such as Columbus Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and Presidents' Day.

Science

Our science curriculum begins with simple activities involving plants, animals, the solar system, and the weather. In zoology, the children study various topics for example the classification of living organisms, life cycles, classification of Living and Non-living things. In Botany, the children may go outdoors to collect real plants which they will examine as they label the parts of the plant. Seeds are planted and nurtured so that children can see how they germinate and turn their leaves towards the sun and their roots towards underground water sources.

Art & Creativity

Art is an important part of our curriculum, allowing for self expression and fine motor skill development. Children explore colors, textures and patterns, developing visual and sensory abilities along with imagination.

Music & Movement

Through music, children learn to hear differences in sounds, discover rhythm, increase vocabulary and experience its impact on moods. We introduce the children to an array of songs, finger plays and nursery rhymes, simple yoga. Music is part of our daily curriculum.

Gardening

Children are exposed to outdoor and indoor gardening activities where they will plant seeds and nurture the growing plants in the process of taking care of them.
