My name is Alex Raykin, and I've been in the business of tearing down those walls for about thirteen years.

Are you self taught? I am impressed, which is why I will help you teach yourself more effectively.

Many of my students have these kinds of beginnings and my approach involves making you capable of growing on your own.

If you have taught and trained yourself this much, you have great discipline, and using that discipline, I can put you on the road to virtuosity.

I stand by my 5 star yelp rating with pride and I don't take it lightly. You will benefit from a unique and proven method of instruction, direction, and guidance.

I look forward to helping you be the best you can be!

Are you having trouble keeping up with the greats?

Have you hit a plateau with your playing and a feel like you've capped out on speed?

My name is Alex Raykin, and I'm here to help you break through those boundaries. You can shred like John Petrucci, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert, Buckethead or whomever else you would like to imitate.

Have you ever had pain in your shoulder/arm or tension in the elbow while attempting to play fast? The biggest limiting factor most us experience in developing our nervous systems and skeletal muscle to allow for efficient motor response, or blazing finger speeds, is neurotic holding patterns in our bodies and minds.

When it comes to mastering the art of shred, it would make the most sense to optimize the process where it originates: Your central nervous system, joints, and associated muscles. Our bodies have built in tension responses that we need to transcend in order to hit higher thresholds of speed. If you want to see someone who had a well conditioned nervous system, go watch Shawn Lane videos on YouTube.

Speed is only a small aspect of good musicianship, and we will work on overall advancement but lacking in it will stop you from really being able to fully express yourself.

An important step I take with my students is coming up with a concrete daily practice regimen. We also work on great ways to build clean speed on popular techniques like: Alternate/Economy/Sweep picking and legato (slides, hammer ons/pulloffs, tapping)

Over the past 10 years I've worked with all kinds of players to maximize their genetic potential for musicianship. What sets my instruction apart from others is that I take a holistic approach to teaching guitar. I am a personal trainer as well and will help you correct aspects of your posture and other various tensions that may be holding you back.
