Free to a good home

QR Code Link to This Post We have a beautiful, lovely black cat, female, approximately 5 years old. We got her as a rescue, and after a couple of years trying to integrate her into our home, what we've learned is, simply, she doesn't like and won't relax around men. It's just that simple.

She's wonderful otherwise, but I can't be anywhere near her if she's trying to play with the other cats or sit with my wife. Her name is Abby, she's neutered, gets along well with other cats, even our rather temperamental Siamese. Eats regular indoor cat food, nothing fancy. She's gentle and will help groom the other cats, but she is very skittish around men. We love her and want her to have a good home. Kids seem to be ok, especially girls, and women are a non issue for her. I don't know what happened in her early life, but it breaks our hearts to not be able to give her the type of home she needs. Honestly, she's a lovely and wonderful cat, and absolutely beautiful, beyond simply being able to relax and calm down, and make herself feel at home when I'm in the house. :(

We're happy to bring her to you in the area, or have her crated with a little notice, as getting her in the carrier (again, if I'm home) can be a chore for my wife. It's a complete impossibility for me. When I'm gone from the house for a day or so, she seems to be completely at ease just hanging out and being petted, and being a normal cat. As soon as I come home, she hides. She shouldn't have to live like that, and I wish I knew what happened when she was younger.

There are no charges or fees, she's healthy, fixed, and her last checkup was maybe a year and a half ago... we have a friend who is a retired vet and she stops by to check on the cats a few times a year between official vet visits. We just want her to have a good home where she can be herself; I promise, this isn't anything more than.
