Hello! We are looking to pay someone $16/hour (in cash, at the time of service) for work each week at our small farm in Nokesville. We would require at least a two-day-per-week commitment, although you are welcome to spread the work over additional days, if you wish. We are looking for someone who would view this as a long-term, steady gig, and this work could be ideal for someone looking to make extra cash to supplement other employment. We also would provide a good worker with references for other jobs you may be seeking. Your duties would include cleaning the horse barn (we have only three horses and do not use stalls, and a tractor with a front-loader is available) and scrubbing the horse waterers on an as-needed basis. Experience with blanketing horses and other handling would be a plus, but is not necessary. Also, very occasional cleaning of chicken coops and chicken yards; once-weekly mowing of our 3-acre pasture, using our tractor and mowing attachment, and weed-whacking the pasture perimeter. Mowing of additional pastures and paddocks. Occasional harrowing of fields. Occasional repair of broken fence boards and gates. Snow-removal from driveway using our plow in the winter. We provide all tools and materials. An ability to address the maintenance of small machinery is a plus, but not required. It is difficult to estimate the exact number of hours, as certain days or weeks may require more hours than others, but the mowing and weeding once per week of the main pasture usually take around 6 hours, the barn could take 2 hours each time to clean, depending on how dirty it is, and the additional mowing of the other fields also would provide several hours of work. If you are interested in accumulating more hours, we nearly always have other outdoor chores that need doing. This is an opportunity to make a nice amount of cash, with the potential to grow, depending on how handy and enterprising you are. This gig probably would be ideal for someone living in or around Nokesville. You will need your own transportation, and we will do a background check prior to hiring. I think you would find that we are laid-back people to work for. We believe in providing good pay for good work, and would like for you to be your own manager as much as possible and to establish a routine that works both for you and for the needs of the property. Complete fluency in English is not necessary, but an ability to communicate and understand basic information in English is needed. Thank you for your interest! We look forward to hearing from you as soon as.
