Hi, due to an out of state move, I am looking for a good home for my pet hermit crabs... Hermit crabs are NOT a pet you can entrust to the care of a child.... They are more of a hobby, than a pet. I have become a Hermie Hobbyist, and I want to see them go to someone who has the time to give them the very delicate care they need. Our 'crabitat' is well established, and we have a very happy, healthy and active crab colony of 20 crabbies!! I bought the whole 'crabitat' complete with a beach, swimming pool, lighthouse, backdrop view of the Caribbean sea, 4 heat sources, thermometer/hydrometer, 40 gal tank with lid, and 2 books to learn how to care for them, in addition to a ton of other accessories!! The 'crabitat' is maintained daily, with close attention to the temperature, and humidity levels. 1/2 of the tank is an arid 'beach' habitat with separate fresh and salt water pools. The other 1/2 is a humid 'rainforest' habitat, with live and fake plants for climbing, real and fake coconut shells for sleeping, and plenty of substrate for burrowing/molting. I have invested about $500 in this set up and will be asking a $100 rehoming fee, to make sure they go to a person who is committed to care for them.
