Home Health Aide Elderly Care needed (6 to 10 hours per week) (West Palm Beach)
Part Time Home Health Aide needed in West Palm Beach (near Haverhill & Forest Hill Blvd.)
Our family is in need of a patient, caring and honest Home Health Aide to assist our elderly mother. She is very independent but suffering from diabetes, epilepsy and memory problems. We are looking for someone with experience in managing Type 2 Diabetes, that can assist her in meal planning, coach her in following a diabetic diet, and assist her with light exercise, drive her to the grocery store, doctors' appointments and to run errands, manage her medications and report back to the family via phone, text or email.
This position would start immediately, be long term, 2 to 3 hours per pay, 3 to 4 days a week. Hours and days are flexible. Only applicants who speak very clear English will be considered as she has a hard time understanding heavy accents.
Here is a complete list of responsibilities. . .
Once a week
• Assist with meal planning and making a grocery list (low fat, low carb, diabetic diet)
• Take her grocery shopping weekly (or shop for her)
• Check refrigerator and pantry for outdated food (and junk food)
• Run errands if needed (shopping, post office, library, drug store) or drive her to do errands
• Refill weekly medication boxes
• Manage medication refills monthly or as needed
• Accompany her to doctors' appointments (once or twice a month)
• Schedule doctors' appointments as needed
Every 2-3 days
• Check pill boxes to see if she has taken her medications
• Check insulin vials and pens and record amount used since last checked
• Walk her through basic exercises (leg lifts, squats, arm raises) or take her for a walk
• Assist with very light housekeeping (if needed) -- changing bed sheets, taking trash to dumpster
• Report back to family via phone, text or email.
Applicants Must Have:
• Experience working with elderly
• HHA, CNA or Dietician preferred (will consider non certified with diabetes experience)
• CPR certification
• Must very speak clear English
• Proof of US Citizenship
• Verifiable references
• Clean Dependable Transportation
• Valid Driver's License and Proof of Auto Insurance
• Must be able to Pass a Complete Background Check and Drug Test
