I teach full-time in Torrance, Ca, and am an El Camino & Cal States L.A. alumni, member of the guild of American Luthiers, and a charter member of the Association of String Instrument Artisans. I have taught Master Classes at El Camino CC and am a vendor (Luthier/Amp repair) for L.A. Harbor College.

As a Music Teacher, I break down the study of the guitar into 3 categories:
Note reading (with and without tab)
Chord and rhythm studies (including flat picking & finger picking)
Lead improvising

Also, on the guitar you can only play 3 types of note combinations
Chords, scales, & arpeggios, all covered extensively in lessons.

Additionally, ear training is most important. A musician will only be as good as his/her ear! Vocalizing and singing best develops the ear.
Songs (with student input) are utilized in the above studies.

I teach Acoustic and Electric Guitar, Bass, Banjo, Mandolin, Ukulele (Uke), Autoharp, along with Note reading, Music Theory, and Songwriting.
