I would like to adopt either a "King Shepherd" or a King Shepherd look-alike. In other words a LARGE, big boned, big COATED German Shepherd or German Shepherd mix. I prefer a MATURE dog, either male or female as long as it meets my other criteria. I tend to like large, protective, calm attentive dogs that have had at least some basic training....housetrained if possible. I live on 5 fenced acres, currently have no other pets, and no children in my home. I am a 60 year old retired man looking for a good companion. I enjoy taking my dog with me while doing errands in the car, hiking, hanging out at home, etc. I have a lot of experience with large, smart, powerful breeds and can provide many references. I have worked/fostered in rescue, have been employed at an Animal shelter, and have experience in the obdeience and confirmation ring. A dog that is a "one man dog" would not be a problem for me, I have experience with dogs that have that nature and like them. I prefer dogs that are on the calm side....without a strong prey/ball drive, but that's a preference not a requirement. I am willing to pay a reasonable adoption fee and submit to a home check. Please do not write to suggest that I check rescue groups and shelters...I am doing that regularly. Only respond if you have an adoptable dog that you think might suit me....definitely NO puppies.
