I hold a Master's degree in Music from New England Conservatory and currently teach guitar and piano both privately and in music schools around Boston, teaching students of all ages, levels, and styles.
My expertise includes the electric guitar, steel-string acoustic guitar, nylon-string acoustic guitar, and piano/keyboard, and I play professionally in the following styles:
- Jazz (modern, gypsy, and swing)
- Rock
- Blues
- Classical
- Folk
- Latin (traditional and jazz)
For those interested, I also have extensive knowledge in theory and composition, which can be applied to any of the styles above.
The direction you want to go in, and your current level, will decide what exactly we focus on (e.g. we will not study improvisation if you're interested in classical music), rather than having a pre-determined lesson plan regardless of the individual student's needs and tastes. If you're not sure what you'd like to focus on, rest assured this is extremely common and I have developed my own method of helping students find where their real interests and talents lie.
My rate is $50/hr for guitar OR piano lessons, or for both at once (either splitting each lesson in half or alternating between lessons). This rate applies if you come to my studio, located off of Harvard Ave in Allston, where I have a baby grand piano. For anything besides that (i.e. traveling to your home or finding a meeting place), and for particular circumstances, rates are negotiable. Skype lessons are also available. For all students I am open to questions and concerns outside our normal lesson time, via phone or email. Lastly, my schedule is flexible.
First lesson is free!
Let me know if you would like sample recordings, and I will happily provide them.
