Looking for a shared, live in Caregiver for senior woman with dementia (SW Portland Garden Home)
Hello,
We understand that this opportunity may not be for everyone. Our ideal person will be senior, mature female who is patient, understanding and compassionate who has the ability to share schedules.
We are looking for live in Caregiver, Companion, Guardian for my Senior Mother who is challenged with Alzheimer's. We have had live in care providers living with Mom for a little over three years now. We have will have two providers living with Mom working as a team. Mom loves having providers living with her and embraces the situation. Our primary provider has been with us for just about two years.
We are looking for a long term situation that works for our family as well as you. We are not interested in a short term provider. We have two caregivers which allows Mom to have proper coverage while allowing each provider to have time away from the house for personal time and even the opportunity to work a part time job. Our team is based on mutual respect for each others needs and schedules. Our primary provider is very flexible and very easy to work with.
**** Due to the nature of her care that includes assistance with bathing and such, we are only looking for a female for this role. **** We are not looking for a Husband and Wife Team or having children living in the home. These requests are based solely on my Mother's age and current situation with dementia. ****
*** This is a non-paid position *** We are offering a master bedroom with ½ bath within a lovely home, all utilities, cable TV, high speed internet.

Our care providers provide meal preparation, assistance with showers and personal hygiene and assistance with restroom use. They provide companionship, personal care and a safe living environment.
Mom currently lives in the SW Portland's Garden Home area in the same home she has been in for the past 50 years. Our plan is to keep Mom in her home for as long as possible. Her house is a large, lovely home with a large fenced back yard. The house is completely furnished. My Wife and I over see Mom's care and live in the local area. We will be the only family members involved so you don't have to worry about taking directions from multiple family members.

A little about Mom,
She is 77 years old and was born and raised on a ranch in eastern Oregon. She was a professional business woman before becoming challenged with dementia. We are a Christian family and Mom and has a passion for the Lord. She has a great sense of humor and a heart of gold. She loves animals
( small dogs and or cats are welcome in her home. ) She loves working in her large backyard. Mom works great with her current and past care providers. Mom's days vary. If you have worked with a person with dementia you know there are clear days and "foggy" days. Mom enjoys working in her yard, going swimming at the Harmon Pool, taking walks, listening to music and watching television.
