I am looking to begin an engine rebuild in May on my 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon GL 2.1 L engine (manual transmission). I will order all the parts needed and can either bring the van to your location/garage, or we can do it at my parent's house near the airport.

I have some tools I have used while working on my van over the past couple years, but to be safe you would need to have your own tools and everything needed to drop and replace the engine.

Given the nature of these vans, I ask that you are confident in working on these waterboxer engines. I will assist every step of the way, but you will be the lead mechanic here since I have no experience in engine rebuilds.

Please respond only if you have experience with these capricious motors and an estimate of how much time it would take you to complete the work, and of course, your asking price.
