Brandy arrived at Dogma Animal Rescue in October 2014 with seven young puppies. She was placed in a loving foster home while she cared for her pups. Her puppies have all been adopted and we are still searching for the perfect home for this very sweet girl.

Brandy is a Hound cross, is approximately 6 years old, and weighs around 55 pounds. She is a unique dog and needs a special adopter. First, Brandy is shy in public. Because of that she is not a good candidate for anyone seeking a walking or hiking partner. She does well on leash but as soon as a stranger approaches she panics and tries to wiggle out of her collar. I've spent time working with her and have just concluded that she would do much better staying close to home. Brandy would excel in a quiet environment. She enjoys time in the back yard a great deal and can normally be found lying peacefully in the sun for long stretches at a time.

Brandy loves people and she is happy cuddling up on the couch. She also routinely comes by and puts her paws on laps for some TLC. It took some time for her to trust her foster family, but she will now sit and gaze into their eyes. She's a soulful dog and you will see that when you look into her eyes. Obviously, someone in Brandy's past treated her badly. But she has a loving spirit and is just a genuinely sweet dog. She's a survivor, our Brandy.

Whoever adopts this girl will need to let her come around to them on her own terms. It took time for Brandy to trust us, and it will take time for her to trust a new family, too. Individuals who schedule a meeting with her shouldn't expect a dog that comes up and immediately want attention, but if you have a dog bed available she will go right to it and lay down. If you spend a few minutes rubbing and petting her and then stop she will lean in and want more. My bigger point is that she's a warm, affectionate, friendly dog, but you will most likely not see it right away.

Brandy sleep in her crate at night or on the couch. She's house trained, but during extended periods of rain you have to make sure she goes potty. I would also advise having her sleep in her kennel when it's been raining because the few accidents she's had in the house were during rain storms.

Brandy is spayed, microchipped, Heartworm tested, current on vaccinations, wormed, and treated for fleas and ticks. Because of her shyness Brandy is only available for private meet and greets.
