Does your child have to count on their fingers when adding or subtracting?
Do they struggle to comprehend what a word problem is asking them to do?
Do they demonstrate difficulty learning and retaining math facts?
Do they get confused often when independently working on math homework?
Hello, My name is Cindy and I am the owner of Learning Curve Academics. I have worked at a private literacy center as a manager for the last 3 years using the multi-sensory instruction techniques using Lindamood Bell. I have worked with many children, many of them having dyslexia Dyscalculia, or other learning disabilities, and have seen many parents struggling to understand why their child cannot comprehend basic subtraction, or why fractions are so difficult to explain to their child.
Many times students get confused and need one-on-one, hands on, instruction in order to create and maintain a solid foundation of math facts and to understand new concepts. Using a multi-sensory approach helps each child visualize and understand each concept, starting from numeral imagery, to imaging the number line, to carrying and borrowing, multiplication facts, division, decimals, fractions, integers, and more! I work with students from k-12, and can also teach pre-algebra, algebra, geometry and more!
I create a learning plan tailored to each child's needs based on the results of a extensive math evaluation that pinpoints where the child needs the most help. it may be concepts, comprehension or retention but I can help your child develop independence and self confidence as they learn how to master any difficulties they may be having now in a fun environment!
