We're putting together a hard-working, seriously committed writers' group. Details are still developing, but here's the likely format:
* Five to eight members. No cost, no fees. Selection is by interview and submissions.
* Serious writers with established practice only. Previous publications/awards NOT necessary.
* We meet for 2 - 3 hours, twice a month, in homes in the East Bay (possibly SF too).
* We aim for everybody to share some writing (even if brief) at every meeting.
* Writers of all ages, colors, genders, orientations, physical abilities are very actively encouraged.
* Our focus is on innovation and craft, in service of outrageous vision, beauty and/or humor.
* Supporting writers in all literary forms, especially fiction, poetry, drama, essays, creative non-fiction, and experimental. If your interest is non-literary forms of writing (such as self-help, marketing, journalism, technical, academic, etc.), you will probably find other groups a better fit.
* Members should be prepared to read each other's writings with exceptional care and to give useful, insightful responses.
With any luck, we'll build a group that will be a supportive community as well as a place to grow as writers and create some amazing work.
If you're interested in the group, please reply with something about yourself and your trajectory as a writer. Eventually we'll ask for writing samples and a sample of feedback that you've given to somebody else's work.
