Established photographer in New Orleans is looking for a first assistant. Shoots are mostly portrait sessions, magazine shoots, and weddings.
Looking for someone who meets these requirements:
Good understanding of the basics of photography, including, but not limited to apertures, shutter speeds ISO, etc.
Ability to shoot on my equipment (set up for you by me) at several points throughout the day during a wedding shoot
Reliable transportation
understanding of and experience with Nikon digital cameras, zooms and prime lenses
understanding of and experience with Nikon speedlights and CLS remote flash usage
understanding of and experience with studio lighting, light modifiers, and lighting grip (stands, etc)
A willingness to commit to regular gigs
free saturdays throughout early to late spring, early summer, and early and late Fall
flexible "other" work schedule in order to assist on shoots sometimes during the afternoon or evening on weekdays
ability to carry between 50 pound rolling camera case up stairs
pleasant personality, easy to get along with, open to critique
Preferential consideration given to those who have assisted in the past and those who are familiar with Profoto lighting equipment and Nikon's flagship cameras
I understand that there are people who are just starting out and are looking for a job like this to "learn photography" or "gain experience", but that is not what I'm looking for. I DO, however, teach private photography lessons, if you're.
