New unlicensed, in-home daycare opening in Walcott, ND.
I previously owned and operated an unlicensed in-home daycare while living in Fargo, closing only because we moved out here. We have a spacious house, a dedicated playroom, a large yard that is partially fenced, plastic play equipment both indoors and out, and a selection of toys appropriate for children ages 5 and under.
My childcare philosophy is learning through play. Children are encouraged to free play for at least two hours per day and outside play is a large part of daily activities, weather permitting due to the young age of my own children.
We own a kiddie pool which is used regularly throughout the summer and water is never more than two days old. We own two large, well-behaved, and trained dogs. Both are extremely good with children and primarily use licking and moving as a defense against unwanted play. I offer separate spaces for dogs and kids when appropriate and regularly remove the dogs for recharge time.
We try to take daily walks, again weather permitting, and children old enough to walk are expected to walk as far as they can before being put in a stroller or wagon. I provide no vehicular transportation of children partially for liability reasons and partially because it's hard to install and uninstall carseats on a regular basis and I opt to not keep other carseats permanently installed in my own vehicle.
I offer two full time rates based on hours in care, regular part-time, and drop in rates. Families are responsible for paying all agreed upon daycare costs. Failure to pay will result in immediate termination of care.
I have a childcare handbook which outlines my policies, procedures, payment schedules, and other things of note. Care will not begin until a contract has been signed and completed. I choose to remain unlicensed because I only watch a small number of children. I offer healthy meals made up of mostly whole foods, though I have a weakness for boxed macaroni and cheese and hot dogs. I am willing to work with some dietary restrictions, but cannot accommodate extreme diet restrictions (such as severe peanut allergies and gluten restrictions).
Please contact me if you are interested in local daycare and I would love to talk to you, show you my house and yard, and see if it would be a good fit.
