Odd answer on AK DMV practice test

Needing to update my AK driver's license, and was just taking an online practice test -

This question and possible answers came up:

- - - - -
To prevent being struck from behind -

a) Drive a little faster than the rest of traffic to widen the gap between you and the vehicles behind you

b) Brake harder than usual

c) Keep pace with the traffic

d) Drive slower than the rest of the traffic to better control your vehicle

- - - - -
I didn't like any of the answers, but chose 'c' which was determined to be correct.

But I'm great about not speeding, I just don't - I keep to the speed limit even if vehicles start piling up behind me, which has happened sometimes on long Alaskan roads. I pull over to let others by when the opportunity comes.

Sometimes, and likely more so in busier cities than I live in, especially during rush hour traffic, lots of other people are exceeding the speed limit. So if I'm in the midst of a bunch of speeding drivers - I'm also supposed to exceed the speed limit?

That just doesn't sound right. Or am I being too law abiding?

Is that an adequate answer to give to a cop who pulls me over for speeding if I'm doing it to 'keep pace with traffic'- I was just keeping to the same speed as the other?
