We have a mailing list (e-mail addresses hidden for privacy) to organize pickup basketball on some really nice/lighted outdoor courts in New Berlin. The way it works is I send out an e-mail for a specific day/time and see how many responses we get. If we get enough (usually 8-10+ guys) then I send out another e-mail saying that it's on and you can expect to play. It is usually one of Tuesday/Wednesday and a Saturday.

The basketball is competitive but friendly, mostly guys in late 20s to 30s with a few older and younger. Nobody is going to be dunking on anyone, but you can expect people to play hard. Sometimes there are other groups of high school guys on the courts that join in. Some days there are exactly 10 and you will play back to back all night, other days there are 20+, but with two courts you still play a lot. Winner keeps court...teams generally selected by free throw attemps etc. we try to keep it fair and I've never seen friends team stack in my years with the group.

Someone has run this mailing list for the last 5-6 years and it has been highly successful. As long as weather cooperates we do usually get 2 days in a week Spring through Fall. This is my first year in charge. If you would like to get on the list let me know and I'll give you any other info you.
