We are looking for a part-time Respite Care/Resident Advisor for our group home facilities.
The Resident Advisor will specialize in guiding residents of our Living Program according to their individual educational endeavors.
The Resident Advisor will:
Oversee everyday functioning of the Independent Living Housing.
- The RA will monitor and supervise residents, along with having ongoing collaboration contacts with other public and private agencies.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting individuals with activities of daily living (examples are personal care, meals, and medication)
- Encourage individuals to participate in community activities.
- Handle general housekeeping tasks and meal preparation.(AS NEEDED)
- Develop opportunities for residents to contribute to household responsibilities and maintenance.
- Be accessible to residents at various times throughout the day, including most nights and some weekends.
- Assist students as they develop the interpersonal skills and individual responsibility.
- Encourage student participation in sponsored programs, student organizations and other activities.
- Work as a member of the staff team to support out-of-class learning opportunities
While providing supervision and support, the Resident Advisor also provides opportunity for each individual to develop and grow towards greater independence.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record
- Clear criminal record and other background checks in accordance with state requirements
- Ability to pass all required training
- Ability to convey, understand and follow spoken and written instructions in English
- Experience preferred, but willing to train otherwise qualified candidates
- Appropriate and sufficient training in home economics, maintaining children's health and safety, First Aid, Fire Safety, and counseling abused, abandoned, and/or neglected children.
- Basic computer skills.
