A portfolio is a tool to represent your images to people or businesses. You may be showing fine art photography or portrait photography or wedding photography or commercial photography. . . well you get the idea. In many ways it's like a resume: it's a detailed introduction for a person in fine arts or commercial art. I often see various photography events that offer portfolio reviews; just saw one for a Palm Springs event. This workshop is better than a review. You get feedback from several people, and you can get help as your portfolio evolves. We'll also discuss marketing and presentation. The plan is for each participant to bring in two images each month, and for everybody to discuss the images. You can attend the workshop with out bringing any images as well, but it's better if you bring some shots. This way you can learn from your own images and from others. Our discussions will center on images rather than technique and technology, but of course we won't shy away from these subjects. You can bring images back again that are cropped or printed differently to see how others respond to them. And seeing how several people respond to your work can be so important. So as a continuing class we'll have much more opportunity to refine our presentations. We'll talk about differs ways of showing work, as prints, on a tablet at a website and so on.
