Rocky needs a new home. Rocky is a Toy Poodle, 15 years old and has cataracts in both eyes. He is also partially deaf. Although he has some age on him and 2 of his senses are impaired, he still has a great deal spunk.

My wife has taken care of him for all these years, but can no longer do so. We're both working professionals and are unable to spend time with him to play or even take him for a walk. This has been the case for some time now but she has had a very hard time with the thought letting him go. Since he still has energy, it would be unfair for us to just let him sleep all day every day. In addition, we installed wood floors which are now beginning to deteriorate due to his urine. Though he's not been potty trained, he usually does "his business" on the puppy pads. However, he occasionally misses or the urine soaks through the pad and onto the floor. As a result, that specific area of the floor is beginning to deteriorate.

My wife has his birth papers and his past medical history, which has not been kept up with. He has also been neutered. Aside from the aforementioned, he doesn't presently suffer any other ailments.

If you have cheese in your home, hide it. He loves cheese and will try his best to jump up the cabinet to reach it. His diet is Science Diet (Senior 11+), but the occasional small pieces of cheese and doggy treat has made brief appearances.

Rocky is not a children's dog. He takes a little while to get to know you, and when he does you can play and interact with him. However, he was never brought up with kids and so does not like rough play. He does however love when you rub his ear and under his neck. He's not a bad dog or a guard dog. But when he had his sight, he'd bark and let us know when someone or something was awry. Now, he's not much of a barker, so he doesn't make much noise.

In my opinion, he would be suited to an older person. Someone who's laid back that can spend time with him and take him for a little walk now and then. Other than that, he's an inside dog that's a perfect companion to sit back and relax with.

For those who may be interested; please keep in mind that my wife is going to be cautious about any new potential owner, remember, she's had him for all this time. As a result, our first meeting will be somewhat like an interview (kind of) with Rocky present of.
