Rita, Rita, oh lovely Rita--Rita, Rita, oh sweet Rita. Rita has a sleek mostly black coat with a unique accent patch along her chest and neck of white with black-merle-like spots. Sweet, calm, faithful, curious, observant, eager to please, affectionate, well-behaved, playful, and shy . . . these are some of the words use to describe Rita. Rita tested positive for heartworm while at a shelter, and soon began treatment. Her fourth week of treatment is nearly complete. Rita's activity level must remain restricted for another month while she continues to regain her strength. Once her treatment is complete, Rita will need to be on a monthly heartworm preventative medication year-round, beginning in March. In addition, she will need to be re-tested in 4-6 months for the heartworm anti-body. Rita takes turns going to work with her foster parents, so they can monitor her activity level. Rita loves to ride in the car. She also enjoys the outdoors, even the snow.
