Seeking violinist or cellist (San Jose)

I'm a violinist living in San Jose, and would love to set up a chamber duet. I'm seeking a violinist, or cellist for gigging, practicing, and weddings in a duet. I'm in a really great duet with a guitarist right now and also want to do one with a violinist or a cellist. I have a bachelor of music degree, and plenty of performance experience, so you should be fairly skilled and have performance experience. I also love to play, and have a good attitude, and I am looking for someone similar.

Requirements
- Mostly weekly practice year round, and willing to prepare for practice on your own, continuing to learn new material.
- Willing to play weddings on weekends in the summer, late spring, and early fall
- Willing to play cafes, farmers markets, or other public gigs, often just for tips, once per month.
- Willing to play wedding music and harder "serious" classical music, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, etc.
- Take pride in performing music at a high standard, and doing a great job.
- Have a good set ready to perform within a month of first starting to practice.

Weddings are paid, and I have worked as a serious wedding musician for seven years, and earned good money from it, but you should also be interested in practicing for its own sake, learning new repertoire, and playing for tips, as well as weddings. I have had three long term duets over the past seven years, two easily were booked for weddings but one wasn't, but was still fun/useful for other gigs. I would be happy both with something that regularly played weddings, or without weddings but doing other performances. Would love to find a great long term collaborator out of this who was looking for the same things as me. This is a great way to stay in practice, learn new music and develop your skills, attract students (who always prefer a teacher who performs regularly), and earn extra money from weddings during the summer. I have had a three partnerships like this that went really well, and lasted several years, and were great for meeting new students, earning extra money, developing our skills, and more, like the time one of my duos was offered an instrument sponsorship.

Now I am going to be honest here and describe some reasons that previous people I have tried this with didn't work out, this is to help you see if this is something that would work for you. Some folks have found they didn't have enough time to practice the parts on their own, and never became good enough to perform. I am not looking to meet up and read for fun, and never perform, or take any longer than a month initially before being ready to perform. The opposite problem was people who were such great readers they wanted to perform without practicing, that also doesn't work for me, I need to practice regularly with someone to perform with them, and need practice to perform parts. Also people who are hoping to only practice or perform during the wedding season, I am looking for a year round thing and am very serious about a weekly practice, and continuously learning new material. The worst situations I have had were people who want to try and practice minimally and then charge money for the lowest level performance they could get away with, this is really not something that I am willing to do. This is probably best for you if you are looking to practice and improve, and have enough time to do that, as well as perform to a high standard.

You must be located in San Jose, or somewhere fairly close to there (not in san francisco or the east bay).

What I am thinking is if we email and meet and seem like a good match, we would then try this for a month and see how it went.

By the way, I am also a bluegrass fiddler, and I am willing to include that repertoire beside classical music if you play it also.

I would consider joining another existing chamber music group if it sounds like what I was looking for in my ad. If this is what you are looking for, please tell me about your group in your email.

If you are interested, please send me an email and tell me about yourself, your previous musical experience, and anything else.

Thanks!
