The online editor/writer will have significant management/strategic and writing/editing roles, as is typical of the broad responsibilities performed by each member of the magazine's small editorial staff. Specifically, the online editor/writer will (1) conceive, assign, and edit the online contents; collaborate with editorial colleagues on the online and multimedia components of print contents; and supervise all aspects of online production and presentation (in close coordination with editorial colleagues, including the online assistant editor and art director); (2) direct editorial aspects of online strategy and reader engagement; (3) report and write a significant volume of high-quality, contextual, explanatory articles across the spectrum of readers' interests; (4) coordinate online production of the print contents with technology staff members; and (5) direct the magazine's recurring e-mail products and social-media presence. Candidates must have a liberal-arts bachelor's degree and a minimum of one to three years of professional writing and editing experience, including some management/supervisory responsibilities, both in print and online. Essential strengths include outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; ability to carry on multiple, overlapping assignments simultaneously; attention to detail; demonstrated ability to work under frequent deadlines, take initiative, set priorities, and work collaboratively in a team environment; and the ability to research, report, and write independently. Must be able to travel and work nights and weekends based on business needs.
