Hello all!
I am a female singer/song-writer in my early twenties. And I think now is the time for me to seek out a person, or persons, who might want to join me on my next adventure!
I am looking to start a new project around September. I am currently in a band; we have been together for a year, are close friends, perform on a regular basis, and are currently working on our CD.
Things will be taking a slight shift in a few months, at which point I would love to begin working on another goal; meet the right band-mate[s], build up a friendship, build up a band, make amazing music, begin gigging/ promoting ourselves, and eventually go on a tour! (I understand that the tour would really just consist of us scoring gigs in other places and then travelling there. . . self- financed, I am sure heh).
My inspiration for wanting to go for it comes from The Band Joseph. They are amazing. They started off small. However, they have worked hard, and are doing well for themselves. Their life looks a lot like I want mine to. (Look them up- beautiful musicians and excellent music).
I have no desire to be "famous". My desire is to make and perform music that I love and that other people love. I hope to be able to support myself financially (someday down the road) with the money I make from my music. My reason for saying that, is because I want my music to be my job. Except, it is a job I would actually enjoy! ;) It's hard to focus as much on the craft when I have another professional to be putting time into. It would be heaven to have music be my one and only "work". <3
Hopefully I am making sense so far. . .
Onto the next topic! My style is indie/modern folk music. I would like to stay in the genre. I am not talented in the realm of rock or pop, and jazz has never sparked any interest in me.
To describe my voice. . . I often am told that I remind people of: Adele, Sara Bareillies, Norah Jones, The gal from First Aid Kit, etc. Just to give you an idea.
I write lyrics and sing. I am noooot much talented in the realm of instruments. I salute you, if you are! Bravo, my friend. I intend to be the lead singer. So I am searching for people who can play instruments mostly, and perhaps have an interest in doing harmonies, while understanding that my passion and talent lay in singing, therefor I will be taking that place.
I am open to different kinds of instruments. Guitar is my most standard preference. Some piano is wonderful. Aside from that. . . I will leave it up to suggestions. Accordion? Cello? Fiddle? Harmonica? Show me what you got. :)
I don't yet have a preference on how many people I want to work with. Could be just one other, or a few. However, I do have a specific preference when it comes to age. . . For women, I am looking for a band-mate[s] who are 20s to 30s. For men band-mate[s], I am looking for no older than 28/29.
And now for the last short bit of specifics! I am a drama-free, kind, honest, out-going, often times hilarious, playful, respectful gal. I seek the same traits in others. Friendships are extremely important to me. If someone becomes my band-mate, it's going to be because they also became my friend. I'm not really a just-professional type of a person. Music is extremely important to me. I want every bit of the process to have meaning. Therefor, I want a meaningful friendship with a music partner[s].
I am a Christian, and my music is often times spiritually inspired. Because of this, I would like to work with other Christians. That isn't to say all of my songs are about God specifically, but some are. My faith is important to me. When it comes to creating music with others, I want to make beautiful things with others who believe as I do and who I can relate to on this subject.
Speaking of the subject of my Christianity, I am a very loving person. I have friends with many differences. Some of whom are Christian, a different religion, no religion, LGBT, drink, smoke, cuss, etc. I don't look at any spiritual differences and judge them. And I am not the type of person who has to consciously CHOOSE not to judge. No. . . I just straight up don't judge their lives. I believe I am here to be a loving person. They know they will never feel pressured by me, and that I won't make them uncomfortable. I am not pushy about religion. I don't try to convert people. Most of my goal is to be who God made me, maintain a close relationship with Him, and hope that in doing so I am positively affecting others through words, actions, and song! <3 (I would like to add that I do indeed drink, and sometimes use words that others may not find to be so nice).
For the sake of comfort and closeness, I ask that I work with people who are on the same page as me. Which I realize can be a hard combination to come by. . . Christian, supportive of LGBT, loving, accepting etc. It's cool if you aren't, but that just means you aren't the one I am looking for to work with, and I wish you the best.
(On a side note, please refrain from messaging me and telling me I am not a "true Christian" if I support gay marriage. . . those emails get real old, real fast, and they are not appreciated. I ask that you kindly mind your own business, and understand that you can only change my point of view just as much as I can change yours).
With all of that being said! If this strikes your fancy, I would love to hear from you. :) I think the best way for me to personally to go about this is to ask that you send a recording of what you have to offer musically, and also an email telling me about yourself (include gender and age, please). If I feel that our music styles would go well together, then I will get back to you.
Thank you so much for reading my novel above! Haha. Have a fabulous day!
(PS, please excuse any typos, it's quite late, and my vision is now)
