Singersongwritermulti

I am a singer/multi-instrumentalist/songwriter going for a craigslist Hail Mary shot. I've only had a couple of encounters through Craigslist, but so far the results haven't been what I'm hoping for, and I think perhaps it's because I wasn't specific enough. So let's get to the particulars.

I'm in my early 30s, play guitar and sing, and I can handle myself well with DAWs. I live in IE. That said, remaining local isn't a concern of mine, as I'm willing to travel to LA or Orange County 2x a week for rehearsals, hangouts, brainstorming, (sort of all the same, really) etc.

Currently I write and compose all my music, that includes bass, synths, drums, etc. So I have many demos that I can share with interested parties.

Next up? The sound...Which may be most important. It's not that it's mandatory we "sound" a certain way. But what is important is that we share common ground.

One encounter I had, well, the guy was nice enough, but as we dove deeper into the project he began to push certain types of bands on me that I don't care for and say how much he wanted us to have a "post hardcore" vibe. Lesson learned? People won't always be upfront about what they want, so long as they can get in a "band." He heard my demos, and my sound is not even close to post hardcore.

Believe me, this comes from a good place, and not a need to be rude. I have a well of respect for what we all do, and the last thing I want to do is waste anyone's time, so let's make sure we share a creative bond, especially at the outset.

And where should that creative bond begin? Well, I'd say, if you love Nirvana and you love Apparat, then we just may hit it off. If you don't love Nirvana or don't know who Apparat is, then you should probably pass. Obviously, those aren't the only two bands I like, but it's a good measuring stick for what appeals to me, and hopefully you as well.

Also, please have some gear. I don't expect anyone to come in with a PA and a 16 channel Mackie, but at least have a good practice amp, good synth, or something that can plug into a PA, etc. I once met up with someone who claimed they played guitar, but in person they confessed to just having a classical acoustic that they had only began learning the month prior....sound familiar? Yup...sigh.

Are you a partier? Cool, I like to have a good time too. Are you an alcoholic or druggie? Not cool. Basically, if you enjoy a drink or if you dig on Mary J from time to time, that's fine. But please, no druggies or sad saps that can't control their vices. I'm pretty sure we can all agree with that, as addiction is all too often the beginning of the end for great bands and artists.

How old should you be? I'm not too picky, I don't think. But I suppose 25-45 is a good range to keep things in. And I think it would be best in terms of being able to relate to one another . Gender, sexual preference, race? Hell if I care, just be a good person, humble, empathetic and passionate.

And lastly, if you've made it this far, then perhaps you're actually interested, which is a miracle in and of itself. So, if you are, please hit me up with some info about yourself, including your name. What you're into musically, and most importantly, a demo of some kind. It doesn't have to be anything special. It can be something recorded on a phone, or something recorded on Ableton uploaded to Dropbox, whatever, so long as I can hear your sound. And of course, I can provide my demos as well, so you can be sure that you're into my sound, voice, etc., as well.

Okay, well, here goes nothing!
