QR Code Link to This Post Start-up company developing Android cell phone app seeks several software testers. Initially about 10 to 15 hours work, with potential for follow-up with revisions to the software. We need someone who can write well, as well as use software. The software is a cell phone utility program (and not a game, not social or business networking, not e-commerce) which will be useful to a very wide range of cell phone users, really almost anyone.

You must be local to the DC metro area for meetings, and be able to get around for a few meetings (car, metro, Uber, doesn't matter -- but travel expenses are not covered).

We are open on qualifications. College students, graduate students, professional students welcome to apply. But also retired persons, especially business-persons or professionals with writing skills, persons seeking some extra income and looking for an interesting diversion.

We do need some college education or college degree, as testing will entail not only testing specific features, but using your own common sense and solid writing skills to write up some impressions of the application. Computer or programming background might be helpful but is by no means essential. But you must be generally able and capable with an Android-based cell phone, and have your own phone.

Depending on your background, there is some possibility of future work in such areas as programming, marketing, sales, finance, accounting, technical support, and eventually some electrical and mechanical engineering, and other tasks typical to a software/hardware company. Taking on the project will entail signing an NDA, signing a contract work agreement, installing the application on your cell phone, and spending between five and fifteen hours, spread over a few days or a week, testing the software. There will be a form to fill out with your results, but (again) some original, articulate writing is needed as well.
