Last Saturday, while car shopping my son heard a kitten screaming at the car dealership. He found a little kitten in a ditch full of water. He looked around for the momma cat and any other babies but could not find either. We have been taking care of him this week and actively searching for a good home for him (all expenses paid-shots and neuter). Yesterday, I took him to receive his well-kitten care and he was tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia. He tested positive for Feline Leukemia. He will have to be retested in a month. Our dilemma is not taking care of this little kitten for the next month but after if he tests positive again. We have two adult cats that are FeLV negative. I feel terrible having to isolate him for the month but willing to do so for his quality of life. He is otherwise a healthy kitten, no fleas, no ear mites, no parasites. If by chance he does test positive again I will be looking for a good home for him where he will be the only cat (he will need a high protein diet for life) or with someone who has a colony of cats (barn cats) who would be willing to take him. We are hoping and praying his next test is negative. He has already had a pretty tough start in this world. If you can help please contact me. I don't want to have to put him down for an illness he has no idea that he has or is even currently making him sick. He is roughly 7-8 weeks old.
Thank.
