QR Code Link to This Post Just in time for Christmas, I'm selling an all-inclusive bass guitar starter package with all of the following:
1) A Squier Vintage Modified '70s Jazz Bass (2009) in natural maple finish, which lists new at $350: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier/Vintage-Modified-Jazz-Bass-77-Amber-1373037988394.gc
The bass is in excellent condition and has been played perhaps once or twice a year for the eight years I've owned it. I bought it new and had it professionally set up by Steilberg String Instruments in Louisville, Kentucky, where they straightened the neck, lowered the action, and generally tried to make it as easy to play as possible. That setup cost $170 and made the instrument much more beginner-friendly than one right out of the box.
The bass is currently strung with Elixir Bass 4-String Medium Gauge/Long Scale Nanoweb (Roundwound) strings, .045-.105.
2) A spare set of Elixir strings, which sell new for $40: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Elixir/Nickel-Plated-Steel-4-String-Bass-Strings-with-NANOWEB-Coating-Long-Scale-Light-045-105.gc
3) A spare set of D'Addario EXL165 XL Nickel Round Wound Soft/Regular Bass Strings, which sell new for $20: http://www.guitarcenter.com/DAddario/EXL165-XL-Nickel-Round-Wound-Soft-Regular-Bass-Strings.gc
4) A hard-shell Road Runner bass case, which sells new for $100: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Road-Runner/RRDWB-Deluxe-Wood-Bass-Case-1287277337312.gc
5) A Fender Rumble 15-watt bass amp, which sells new for $80: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender/Rumble-15-1x8-15W-Bass-Combo-Amp.gc
A few years ago, this amp was produced with black carpeting around the outside for additional insulation; as you can see in the pictures, there is a small tear on the lefthand side of the carpeting, but it is purely aesthetic and does not affect the sound in any way.
6) A bass strap, which sells new for $29: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Neotech/Mega-Bass-Strap.gc
7) A bass stand, which sells new for $10: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Musicians-Gear/Electric-Acoustic-and-Bass-Guitar-Stand.gc
8) An amp cord, which costs maybe $5
9) A Teach Yourself Visually Bass Guitar book, which is now out of print but says on the cover that it listed new at $25
All together, that package means I have about $829 invested. I'm selling it all for $400, or a bit less than half of what I have in it and only a bit more than the price of a new bass out of the box. If you're interested in buying it, you're welcome to come try it out first. Please let me know if you have other.
