Sunfish sailboat

.. USD

Sunfish sailboat - ready to sail today. Fiberglass hull in good intact condition. It has a 75 square foot lateen sail (standard Sunfish configuration) in almost new condition. It is crisp and clean but there are a couple of tiny holes from getting pinched (see photo with my index finger for scale) that do not affect function and that can be patched with sail or tent repair tape if desired. You probably won't notice it unless pointed out. I think it is a Sunfish thing because another Sunfish that I had years ago had a couple tiny holes in the same place. It comes with a nice sailbag that protects the sail and spars and makes them very easy to carry. The mast and spars are aluminum. The wooden centerboard and rudder are in good condition with a coating of varnish that brings out the beauty of the wood. Comes with the factory rudder pin & spring that is easy to mount and unmount in seconds. There are two chips in the outer coating but no holes. (see photos with my finger for size). They could be touched up with some paint. There is a small stable crack in the coaming (spray deflector). It could use a new drain plug and I will pick one up if I am in a store soon. Otherwise, you can negotiate the price of a new plug with me. :) The front handle is missing and I will try to rig up a strap there. It comes with a optional "cam cleat" that allows you to secure the main sheet (rope that tightens the sail) so that you don't have to hold it in your hand if you are cruising on one point of sail for awhile. I had just washed it (freshly cut grass really sticks & that's why the gray tarp was under it for the pictures) and the top deck appears to be unevenly colored, but that is the difference between the wet areas and dry areas.

This sailboat is suitable for 1 or 2 people. My wife and I (total about 350 pounds) have sailed on Sunfish with no problem and the boat will come up on plane with a good wind. Great boat for beginners or proficient sailors who want a simple, fun boat to enjoy using the wind to ride the waves. I carry it in the back of a pickup, but it can be carried on a sturdy car top rack or you could put a foam mattress on top of your car and haul it. You can also carry it on a small boat trailer or utility trailer. It could be hauled in the back of a big SUV with the tailgate open.

The hull weighs about 130 lbs + / - and is 13 ft 10 inches long and about 4 feet wide.

It is easy to rig up and I estimate that it takes no longer than 5-10 minutes to rig up after you unload it. To set it up, you would unroll the sail, run a couple ropes through eyes, put the mast in the hole on deck, put the rudder on the back, drop the centerboard into the slot, push off from the dock and pull the sail up, haul in the sail and you're off. I will be glad to set it up right in the yard so you can see how easy it is if you are unfamiliar with a Sunfish.

The Sunfish is one of the most popular boats ever made, so where ever you go, you can probably find a race or regatta, and parts are readily available.

New Sunfish cost over $4000. You have the same fun with this one in good shape and with a nearly new sail on it for less than a fifth of the cost.

Located a few miles off rt 50 east of Salisbury. You could take this boat straight from my house to the water and sail it right now.

I'll try to take the ad down as soon as it is sold. Thanks very much for.
