Ivy is an American Staffordshire Terrier Mix, who was rescued from a NY high-kill shelter after being repeatedly used for breeding, and was about to be put down for having kennel cough. She is approx 8 years old. She is currently in a foster home. Her foster mom says she has good manners and knows many things. She can "sit", "stay", give "paw", "fetch", "drop". She is also learning to play with toys again, and is adjusting nicely to foster mom's dogs. When she is outside, she stays near you and comes back when called. She enjoys walks spending time with her person and is wonderfully on leash.
When excited her nose and tummy turn pink/red. She absolutely loves to have her belly rubbed! She loves it so much she hits up most she meets for a belly rub!! She loves people, kids, some dogs (prefers to be the only female) and she is even know to get along with cats. She loves to follow you around the house or relax on anything soft, and love to cuddle a willing cuddle partner.
When she was rescued she had cherry eye that required surgery. Ivy is fine now but does need to have ointment put in her eyes twice a day moving forward, which she tolerates well. She also has food allergies. She can't have flaxseed, beets, potatoes, oats, milk, corn, etc. She is currently eats Nature's Variety Limited Ingredient Diet or Natural Balance L.I.D. Limited Ingredient Diets Lamb Meal & Brown Rice, which meet her requirements. Her favorite treats are carrots and peanut butter!
Ivy is such a joy to have in your home. She truly is one of a kind loving, devoted and cuddly dog. She is an absolute pleasure to have as a loyal companion. She is spayed, microchipped, and UTD on shots.
