The recording team of Mark Aubort and Joanna Nickrenz at Vox/Moss Music produced a wonderful concert hall sound for these sessions. Originally recorded in QS quadraphonic for Vox records, the stereo mix-down for this generous seven LP MURRAY HILL set is nearly as impressive sonically as the original Vox issues! The performances possess a lot of vigor and stamina - which means the audiophile sound is only part of the attraction here: all six Tchaikovsky symphonies and also the Manfred Symphony, the 1812 Overture, plus a handful of tone poems makes this a wonderful set.
