This is a complete musical education including reading, basic theory, rudiments, fluidity, technique, groove, building a solo, dynamics, flow, congas, bongos, timbales y timbales, cowbell patterns, shakere, left foot clave, Latin styles (soca, songo, baiao, salsa, Afro-Cuban, samba, bossa, merenge, etc.), shuffles (flat tire, Texas, linear, Bernard Purdie, Jeff Porcaro, John Bonham, all with or without ghost notes), cross-sticking, musicality, polyrhythms, Moeller Method and more. If you're having trouble learning double stroke rolls, I guarantee you will learn to roll like a master.
The aforementioned Moeller Method is an approach to drumming using biomechanics and ergonomics to support smoother, injury-free playing. Your own body will teach you how to accomplish this. Your speed and power will increase as well. It is how Buddy Rich was able to do some of the amazing things he did, such as one-handed rolls and triplets.
I write lessons expressly for the individual student. No need to buy costly study guides or other books as I supply all materials. I have also written a killer jazz tutorial guaranteed to teach you to play jazz, if that is a discipline you wish to learn. I will bring with me skill, knowledge and, most importantly, 58 years of drumming experience.
If you live in or near Vancouver, Ridgefield or Camas and would prefer to come to me, I teach at the Opus School Of Music in Ridgefield, Wa. on Tuesdays and Fridays, as well as Opus School in Camas on Thursdays. You can contact the Opus School directly for scheduling at (Ridgefield) or (Camas.)
Also available for pickup gigs, subs, and session work.
