1993 Model Trek 850 Antelope. This was Trek's top of the line MTB back in the day. The frame is tig-welded up using True Temper OX tubing, one of the strongest and lightest steel frame materials out there, comparable to Reynolds 853. You can see by the detailing on the seat stays that this was not a throw-away frame, it was one that Trek expected to last. Yes it is an old bike and no it isn't pretty to look at. It will however take anything the mean streets of DC can throw its way and more. It has a Shimano XTR rear derailer and some other pretty nice parts on it. 8 speed cassette with rapid-fire shifting and all new cables, newer tires. Professional buildup onto the bare frame- a really good beater bike with some uncharacteristically nice features, like the 24 tooth rear cog for tackling those long hills. Anyway, I could go on, but this is a great bike for the money, far better than most you will find at the this price. Rear shifter needs work. Thanks for looking, please contact by.
