I am selling my adult owned, 13 inch, mid 2010 Macbook Pro. This computer has been very good to me, it is running better than the day I bought it. How could it be running even better? Simple, it just needed a couple of upgrades.
First, I removed the CD/DVD drive and placed it in an external enclosure that may be connected via USB.
Second, I installed a new 128GB Kingston Extreme SSD in the primary SATA connector.
Third, I moved the OEM HDD to the old optical location for an additional 256 GB of space.
Fourth, I upgraded to 8GB of crucial DDR3 RAM.
Finally, I regularly format both hard drives and keep it all clean.
Specs:
13" Screen
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1.07 GHz Bus Speed
8GB DDR3 RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 320M
128GB SSD
256GB Secondary HDD
Brand New Anker 5800 MaH battery at cycle 54/1000 (exceeds OEM quality, in warranty)
OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks
To get this exact laptop from the Apple store, it will cost $1,500 (without Retina Display). Select the base model 13" (even though it is 2.5GHz) and add the 128GB SSD for $200. There isn't even an option to have a second hard drive and an external optical drive (which retails for $80, plus the cost of another HDD, and the skills to do this), so this is a steal. With all of the additions, this laptop brand new would cost $1,700 plus labor.
But, it's three years old, shouldn't it be less? You're right, it is pretty old. BUT, think about it, what usually makes a laptop bad over the years? It's not just the aging of the technology (and this technology is still current), but it is the degradation of the hard drive. The hard drive is the only (important) mechanical piece of the laptop which means it WILL fail first. I have taken that out of the equation and replaced it with a wonderful, lightning fast SSD (look it up if you don't know much about this).
Are there any cosmetic issues? Of course! It's a three year old laptop! The top has minimal signs of wear. You can see some knicks here and there around the edges, but it is in great shape for being made out of aluminum.
What's included?
1) MacBook Pro 13" - Model A1278
2) Wall charger with extension
