ABOUT ME:
My name is Joshua Turner, I have been singing and playing instruments seriously since I was 16 years old. My styles are mainly rock & folk, although I was trained in many singing styles including opera. I got my vocal training from the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston where I studied voice for 2 years. I was trained by the best vocal teachers in the country and I have lots of Berklee curriculum to base my teachings off of. I also attended Musicians Institute for guitar.
MY TEACHING STYLE:
My teaching style is very simple and to the point, the goal is to learn how to use your instrument. I don't like to get too technical about it because it can actually slow your progression down if you do. The simplest way that I was taught to sing is that "if it hurts, you are singing wrong." That is why vocal exercises are so important to keep your voice strong so you can build stamina and avoid pain, I also have audio vocal exercises that I can provide. I don't like to put people down while they are learning because I know that singing and playing an instrument is a really sensitive thing and that could cause the singer or musician to stop singing or playing completely, which defeats the whole purpose. I have experience in all forms of music from live rock shows, to teaching music in pre schools. I teach confidence!

SERVICES:
*Private Voice, Guitar, and Bass Lessons: Private music lessons for all ages. Private lessons are taught out of my home in Tacoma, Washington. I can also do lessons using Skype or FaceTime. Pricing is $40 for 30 minutes, $60 for $60 minutes and $90 for 90 minutes, with a discount price of $5 off each lesson when you purchase 3 or more lessons in advance.
*Vocal Bootcamp Workshop: My Vocal Bootcamp Workshop is now available for sign up! This vocal workshop will focus on defining yourself as a singer, building confidence, singing and stage performance technique, and so much more! Workshops will be from 2-4:30pm on a Sunday. (A minimum of 3 sign ups will be required to move forward with the workshop). Pricing is $50 for the entire workshop.

I have found more and more that learning to sing is much deeper than just singing, it is also learning confidence, how to speak up for yourself in a powerful way, how to develop more of an identity within yourself, and often times, how to break through emotional blocks that we have all put on ourselves at a young age.
