The most impressive waterfront view in Virginia is from the screened front porch of this old Northern Neck farmhouse, with mile-long views of the Corrotoman River down to the Rappahanock. Thousands of feet of private sandy beach wrap around the house, and are far from the view of the nearest neighbor. A private deep water pier is available if you want to bring your sailboat. A one-stall horse barn and 26 acres of fields and woods are available if you want to bring your horse. All only about a 1Â½ hour drive from Richmond.

The main house has 11 rooms in addition to the kitchen and 3 full bathrooms; consisting of living room, large dining room, six bedrooms, and three other rooms, two of which are windowless, and front and back staircases. There's nothing modern about it; some might say it's rustic. The only thing modern in the kitchen is the fridge, only a few of the rooms have central air conditioning; the others rely on window units or fans, but everything is built to the standards of year-round living. Back-up gas heating and cooking is available. Rent is $1400/mo. with a $1400 security deposit.

The maid's wing is available for an extra $500/mo. It is a semi-detached 2-Bedroom ranch house with living room, dining room, kitchen, and one bathroom. It has central heat and air and is much newer than the 100-year-old main house. To rent both the main house and the maid's wing, rent is $1900/mo. with a security deposit of $1900. No smoking allowed in either.

A short walk brings you to a secluded tidal lagoon which teems with wildlife. Part of it is visible in photo #5. An old oyster-packing house down by the water can provide tons of extra storage.

The tenant pays all utilities. The owner maintains the grounds. There is a little furniture available; dining table, china closet, double bed, two twin beds, and assorted small tables, lamps, bookshelves, etc. Nothing much is there in the way of linens and kitchenware. The previous tenant used the place for vacations and weekends, and before that it was lived in year round.
