Centennial is a small town (population 230) at the edge of the Medicine Bow National Forest. The house is located on the Snowy Range Rd., (Hwy 130), which has been called one of the ten most beautiful scenic byways in the US. The town is where the high plains meet the Rockies: you can go from the expansive vistas and open plains (elevation 8,200'), to heavily forested mountains, to alpine tundra (12,000'+) in 12 short miles. The house sits 27 miles from Laramie, home of the University of Wyoming, which offers the amenities and culture of some of the larger towns in Wyoming, yet is far enough removed that you can exult in peace and quiet under clear, starry skies on the front porch.
Centennial is an outstanding location for outdoors enthusiasts and active retirees. You can go right out the back door onto an extensive network of trails in the beautiful Snowy Range in the Medicine Bow National Forest. Excellent for hiking, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, snowmobiling, etc. Snowy Range downhill ski area 4 miles away. Good rock climbing and paddling nearby. Wonderfully scenic area great for photography and painting, or just chilling out.
